Adjustment
What does adjustment mean?
definition of terms
Adjustment means eliminating deviations of the display of a measuring device from the reference value. According to the 2012 German edition of the International Dictionary of Metrology, calibration is defined as “a set of activities that are performed on a measuring system so that it provides specified indications that correspond to values of a quantity to be measured. Justification of a measurement system should not be confused with calibration, which is a prerequisite for justification. After adjusting a measurement system, the measurement system usually has to be recalibrated.”
What is adjustment?
In the case of spark spectrometers, adjustment means that, based on measurements on several certified reference samples, the individual methods are set in such a way that the measured values match the reference values as exactly as possible. The adjustment is carried out before the calibration.
